Birthday Dinner With Mom

Published May 30, 2012 in blog

No too long ago, my Mom received news that no one ever wants to hear. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in early March, 2012. The form of Cancer is very rare, a form that is actually not caused by cigarette smoke or smoking. With it being such a rare form of Cancer, it’s an untreatable Cancer. Before knowing that it was un-treatable, Mom had two sessions of chemo. She started to have complications with the second session and Dr. and Mom decided to forgo any further treatment. The last few months have been difficult but as Mom says “We [...]

North Carolina State Fair

Published October 15, 2011 in blog, North Carolina

The night before the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, I had to do research on what to eat – fried that is! I have never been to a State Fair and I wanted to make sure I did everything that you were suppose to see and do. One item was to sink my teeth into something deep-fried. Leading up to the fair, I started to follow @NCStateFair, wanting to get to the bottom of the fried food dilemma I was facing.

Grandfather Mountain, NC

Published October 13, 2011 in blog, North Carolina

We try to make it to the mountains at least once during the Fall season as the leaves chaneg colors. The last time we went to Grandfather Mountain was in 2008. Myrtle Beach Family Trip

Published September 14, 2011 in blog, South Carolina

Molly and I are fortunate to be able to visit Myrtle Beach, SC often each year. Molly’s aunt has a condo and my parents have a time-share in North Myrtle Beach. Each time we go we try to eat at our regular restaurants and try some new places that we have read about or have been told to eat at by our friends or family. The one thing that we make sure we do is visit the Tanger Outlets. That has been a tradition of ours since our first visit as a couple in March 2008. A new addition to [...]

Back to Cleveland, Ohio

Published August 15, 2011 in blog, Other States

I’m originally from North Olmsted, Ohio – located just west of Cleveland. I haven’t been to my hometown since the passing of my Grandpa in 2003. Everyone wants to go back to “their roots” and see what has changes over the years. In my case, I wanted to see the homes that my brother and I were raised, schools we attended, and the parks where we played soccer and tee-ball. All these are wonderful childhood memories that seem like a thick fog. Not as in a bad fog, where I can’t remember anything, but a fog where it’s difficult to [...]

Summer Concerts at Shelton Vineyards

Published September 18, 2010 in blog, North Carolina, North Carolina Winery

We try to visit as many North Carolina vineyards each year as we can. One that seems to stand out above the others is Shelton Vineyard, which is located in Dobson, NC. We’re lucky; it’s only about an hour and half from our house. Shelton Vineyard is one of our favorite vineyards as it offers one of the best atmospheres for a North Carolina vineyard. You can watch a short video that explains what they offer and what you can expect upon arriving for wine tasting or other activities. A main reason why we enjoy Shelton Vineyard is because of [...]
